This hat was made in England for Anthony Hordens & Sons Sydney and was bought on 2.8.1915. It has the tree symbol of Anthony Hordens embossed inside with their motto beneath 'While I live I'll grow".
Composition is pure wool, leather, felt and pure silk. Silk shows some deterioration commesurate with age. The inscription CEW can be seen on the inside rim. There is a letter in the hat box describing the owner who is buried in Rookwood Cemetry Sydney. It is a partly original box with an original front label.
